GIOVANNI GASTEL EXHIBITION “FLOWERS”

The Municipality of Milan and Hines pay tribute to master photographer Giovanni Gastel with the open-air exhibition ‘Flowers’.

From September 20th to October 4th 2022, the central Via della Spiga in Milan will host an exhibition of thirty selected works from the Flowers series by Giovanni Gastel, the great photographer who, with his shots, has contributed to consecrating the Milanese city as the ‘fashion capital’, raising its international vocation.

The initiative is realised with the support of Hines, a global player active in real estate and engaged in the development of urban regeneration projects, including the recent redevelopment of Palazzo Pertusati, now the ‘Spiga 26’ creative hub, a new location with a connotation as a place of culture and interchange between spaces, people and beauty in one of the world’s most popular sides of the fashion district.

The open-air exhibition route will open on the two entrances to Via della Spiga, one on Via Manzoni and the other on Corso Venezia, winding its way along the historic boutiques, famous jewellery stores, art galleries and the innovative ‘Spiga 26’ building that one encounters while wandering.

The exhibition, whose curatorship has been entrusted to Denis Curti, is intended as a tribute by the City of Milan to one of its greatest artists, making some of his unpublished works accessible to all, capable of conveying highly topical ethical messages: the prints (mounted on double-sided and single-sided displays) in this series portray faces of women with an ethereal beauty that seem to blossom like flowers, sealing a relationship of harmony and complicity with the external environment.

An invitation to turn our gaze towards new goals in respect of the principles governing environmental sustainability, promoting cultural and artistic paths capable of creating social value.
